Are pets allowed?

No — pets are not allowed currently. This is one of our strictest policies. If guests are found to bring pets of any type, there will be a $300 fee added, plus any extra cleaning or damage fees.

Is there a lifeguard on duty?

No, there are no lifeguards at Lone Star Lake. Swimming and water activities are at your own risk, so please supervise children and non-swimmers closely.

Can we fish from the property?

Yes! Lone Star Lake (Ellison Creek Reservoir) is known for great bass, crappie, catfish, and bream fishing. You can fish right from the shore or dock. A Texas fishing license is required for anyone age 17 or older.

Do you rent boats or jet skis?

We don’t rent boats or jet skis. Some guests bring their own boat or you can enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, or floating right from the property.

Can we bring our own boat or jet ski?

Absolutely! You’re welcome to bring your own watercraft. Please make sure it’s properly registered and follow Texas Parks & Wildlife boating safety rules. Parking for trailers is available. There’s a free public boat ramp nearby to launch your boat.

Are there tubes, kayaks, pedal boats, or paddleboards included?

Yes! At properties located directly on the lake, we include a mix of kayaks, tubes, paddleboards, or a pedal boat (varies by property). Guests are welcome to bring their own as well.

Can we swim or fish off the dock?

Yes! Swimming and fishing right off the dock is one of the best parts of staying with us. Just keep safety in mind — no diving, and please supervise children.

How many guests can stay at the property?

Each home has its own occupancy limit depending on size and amenities, but most Lone Star Lake Rentals comfortably sleep 1-11 guests. Check your specific listing for exact capacity.

Are the properties available year-round?

Can we flush feminine products or flushable wipes?

No. To prevent septic issues, please dispose of feminine products and wipes (even “flushable” ones) in the trash instead of the toilet.

How is the area?

The Lone Star Lake area is peaceful, scenic, and full of East Texas charm — quiet mornings, starry skies, and tall pine trees all around. Perfect for those who love the outdoors or just need to unplug.

Is there star gazing?

Absolutely! The area has very little light pollution — around Bortle Class 3, meaning you can clearly see the Milky Way on most clear nights. Bring your telescope or just look up and enjoy!

Are there neighbors nearby, or is it secluded?

Some properties are peacefully spaced apart — you’ll see a few neighboring homes but still have plenty of privacy. It’s quiet, safe, and not isolated.

Are there bugs or mosquitoes?

Yes, like most lake areas, there will be mosquitoes, spiders and other bugs. We do have the properties treated professionally for bugs, pests and rodents but we are in the country so they are still present. We recommend bringing bug spray and citronella candles for outdoor evenings if you prefer.

Are there grocery stores nearby?

Yes! Daingerfield is just 10 minutes away and has Brookshire’s for full groceries and Dollar General for quick items.

Are there liquor stores nearby?

Yes — Located in Lone Star. Many local stores also sell beer and wine.

Is there Wi-Fi at the house?

Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is provided. Speeds can vary in rural areas but are great for streaming, emails, and relaxing online time.

Do you provide firewood or charcoal?

Guests usually bring their own charcoal but we do provide a normal use amount of firewood. Please check for local burn bans before using outdoor fire pits. Some properties have propane fire pits on the back deck. Some propane is provided for normal use. In some cases you will have to provide your own. We do have extra tanks to avoid deposit costs.

What should we bring?

We provide starter essentials like toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. We also provide a full kitchen including spices, coffee and some condiments. We try to think of everything to save you from multiple trips to the store and more fun and relaxation. You may want to bring beach towels, bug spray, sunscreen and water shoes.

Can we host parties or events?

This is one of our strictest policies. To keep things peaceful for everyone, no large gatherings or parties are allowed. Our homes are designed for relaxation and family getaways.

Is there a noise curfew?

Yes — quiet hours start at 9:00p.m. so everyone can enjoy the calm lake atmosphere. Q: Do you provide extra towels and blankets?

A: Yes — each property includes a full set of towels and linens, plus a few extra blankets for cooler evenings. For longer stays, we recommend bringing additional beach towels if you plan on swimming often.

Do you provide condiments and spices?

We provide basic cooking essentials like salt, pepper, cooking oil and some other basic spices. Because each stay is cleaned thoroughly, we don’t keep perishable condiments.
